On Friday we participated in the Freshers’ Fayre holding a table and giving out flyers. Twenty six people signed up. We spoke to many more, which I felt was just as important as some did not know paganism existed, what it was, or how ‘real’ paganism compared to its depiction in films and on television. Although most of them weren’t interested in joining the society I thought it was valuable to let people know both paganism and Pagan Soc exist and to dispel some of the preconceptions surrounding the pagan religions.
Lancashire based brewer Hawky’s Dragon’s Breath was a clear favourite amongst the meads. Richard’s home made mead, which was cloudy with a distinctive earthy flavour and very strong was second with Harvest Gold finishing last. Linda enjoyed a bottle of Banana Bread beer yet nobody took an interest in my organic porter or Black Run stout. It may be possible Pagan Soc aren’t going to be big ale drinkers this year…
